Performances
Every Tuesday evening, from mid June until mid August, a one hour concert is performed by the Wisconsin Rapids City Band in the band shell at Robinson Park, Wisconsin Rapids. There are no admission charges for the concerts. In case of inclement weather the concert is held in the Performing Arts Center, Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. Concerts in the park begin at 7:15 PM. If the concert is shifted to the Performing Arts Center due to inclement weather, the concert will begin at 7:45 PM. Every year, before the fireworks, there is a special Fourth of July concert performed outside the Centralia Center in Wisconsin Rapids. This concert generally begins at 7:00 PM. There is also a special Band Benefit Concert which takes place on a Sunday Afternoon. This year, some authentic Civil War Era music will be played all season to recognize the sesquicentennial and there will be a shared concert with the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest, located in Peoria, Illinois. The 2011 Concert Season is Being Dedicated to our former City Band Conductor, Don Chesebro, who directed the band for the past 23 years and died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010. Among many other things, he'll be remembered for his ability to pick crowd pleasing musical selections that provided something enjoyable for everyone. He always made Tuesday night concert something special for everyone, including band members as well as audiences. 2011 Concert Dates, Times, and Locations are as follows:
June 21, 7:15 PM Robinson Park
July 4, 7:00 PM Outside Centralia Center (Special Fourth of July Concert)
